3 sumthin am

I had to be to work mad early today, 3am. The only way to stay awake (since I'm not a coffee drinker) is to draw. I thought this was a good idea at the time. Start drawin some more beasts and beast type babes. Now that I'm awake at 5 pm lookin at it I'm disappointed. I guess I can blame it on my groginess. Oh well gotta take the good with the bad.

New found inspiration.

This past weekend has been great for me. I finally got the chance to meet one of my favorite fellow artists.
Mr. Alberto Ruiz. I recently met up with him at Megacon comic convention in Orlando. Seeing his work first hand
in person gives you a greater respect for his art. He doesn't simply draw sexy girls or naked women. His line quality
and rhythm in his work is awesome. His drawings have a great sense of life in them that I never realized until seeing
them up close. It was truly great to see his sketches and "scribblettes". On top of that he's a great guy to talk to.
I've met some artists I admire in the past that are very standoffish and smug about their popularity. But he's very humble
and a guy that the common artist can relate to. It's good when fame (even though he won't admit to being a big dog)
doesn't go to one's head. While he may not be big in many peoples eyes he's big among certain art circles yet he's just
like you and I. I highly recommend checking out his work if you haven't already. You can see his art at: www.brandstudio.com
I have been very inspired to create and let the art flow so I'm gonna go draw some good stuff now. I'd just like to thank Mr. Ruiz for the kind words and the great art. Keep spillin the ink brother, I know I will.

About the girls

Here's my latest gal "The Shay-Ruff". She's based on a girl that I knew for a short time. An entertainer that I met at the gentlman's ballet. She once told me that "We'd make some pretty babies." She may have been right. I'll never know, but I do wonder....This one's for you Y.

Here she is the very lovely Ms. Joci. This talented young lady is an aspiring model that was kind enough to let me use her for my newest gal. My previous gals are all from my minds eye but once I saw her I had to draw her. More to come? You'll have to wait and see. Thanks J. luv ya

Big gal's can be beautiful too. Why is it that so many pinup girls are slim, petite, with some curves? I've seen many full figure ladies that would make fantastic pinup gals. I'm not crazy about Valentine's day, but I'd buy Val some chocolate. If you got it fluant it. Big gals are women too so let's here it for the real voluptious gals.

Why did you do that?

Why do I draw half naked women, and ugly monsters? This is a question that some may ask me or some may think and not ask. Hopefully this will give some answers to friends, family, or interested factions.
Women are one of God's greatest creations. They are our nurtures, life givers. They are powerful yet delicate at the same time. I suppose that's why I love drawing them. I want to show them being powerful, attractive, and soft. The female body is a work of art. Some artist and art viewers can look at still life or abstract art and be amazed by it. I am amazed by women. I am amazed at the curves the delicacy, and how such a soft package can be very deadly. Women are what inspire me and influence my imagination.
The only other thing that has as much influence on me is the King of all Monsters...Godzilla. As a child growing up I'm not sure what it was about Godzilla that I was drawn to. Maybe it was the cool scream/roar he does. Maybe it was the destruction he caused. I was hooked from the start. Dinosaurs mythical dragons and beasts, they are wonderous creatures. I've heard it before, "Draw what you know". I may not know a lot of things but I know I love monsters, creatures and women. Creature design amazes me to the core. Maybe it's the curiosity of wondering if this creature really exists. What would it look like if it had this or that.
My mom would love for me to paint portraits or murals or landscapes. These are great and I love and admire the beauty of them. But it doesn't give me that spark. Alphonse Mucha, Gil Elvgren, and many others have wowed me with how amazingly beautiful women can be represented. I can only hope that my work may show someone else that. Maybe in a humorous way, but women of all shapes and sizes are wonderful beings we are lucky to inhabit this planet with. So since graduating high school in 1989 I decided (vaguely) to draw mostly babes and beasts.
It's what I like, so there.
